Changing a campaign

Everything the Campaigns page shows can be changed from it, once the login carries Meta's permission to manage ads.

The permission

Reading an account needs one Meta permission and changing it needs another. Until the login that feeds this brand carries the second, every control that would change something is shown but off, and the detail says so.

Allow changes at the foot of any detail sends you back to Facebook to grant it. Come back and the controls are on.

From the list

The pill on a row pauses or starts it. The row's menu opens it, pauses or starts it, duplicates it, or deletes it.

Select rows with the circle at their left and a bar appears with the same actions for all of them at once.

New campaign or New ad set at the top right adds a named draft to the current level. It is born paused with the plainest settings Meta accepts, so you name it first and shape it in its detail.

A duplicate arrives paused whatever the original is doing.

A new ad

New ad on the Ads level, or Add ad in an ad set's detail, opens a form: the ad set it runs in, a name, a creative from this brand's library, the Facebook Page it posts as, the link it sends people to, and the primary text above the picture.

The picture goes up to Meta as it is stored here. The ad is born paused, and it is attached to its creative from the start, so what it earns counts for that creative the way a claimed ad's does.

The Page is chosen once per ad account and remembered. A login that manages no Page cannot publish an ad, and the form says so.

From the detail

The detail's Settings carry the name and status of everything. A campaign also has its objective, budget as daily or lifetime, bid strategy, spend cap and schedule. An ad set has its budget, what it optimises for, its schedule, the countries and the ages it reaches.

Countries and ages are edits inside the audience Meta already holds, never a replacement of it: a placement or an interest set in Ads Manager stays as it was.

Deleting asks first. What a deleted campaign earned stays in the history.
