Markets covered

Discovery only ever collects ads from sixteen countries. The list is fixed, no setting widens it, and it is applied when the ads are fetched rather than as a filter afterwards, so a brand that advertises nowhere on the list has nothing here and never will. This is the page to check before you trust the pool as a picture of a market.

The sixteen

  • North America: the United States.
  • Western and Northern Europe: the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden.
  • Central and South-Eastern Europe: Poland, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Everywhere else is outside. Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Czechia, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece are not collected, and neither is anywhere in Asia, Africa, South America or Oceania.

Brands that run a page per country

Large brands in this region often run a separate advertising page for each country, one for Slovenia, one for Croatia, one for Serbia, each with its own ads. When you search for a brand in Discovery, those pages come back as separate rows, and picking a row is how you pick the country.

A row for a country Nomi does not collect is greyed out, says the country followed by not covered, and cannot be picked. That is deliberate: those pages are often the ones with the largest following, so the most tempting row in the list can be the one that could only ever return an empty grid.

A page whose name says nothing about a country is searched across all sixteen markets the first time. After that, Nomi goes back only to the markets that actually returned ads for that brand.

Filtering by market

Market in the filter menu lists only the countries the ads currently in the pool came from, so it is never a menu of options that lead nowhere. A handful of older ads were collected before the country was recorded against them, and those are left out when you filter by a market rather than shown under all of them.

What the country on an ad means

It means the market Nomi asked in, not a promise about where else the ad runs. Meta's ad records carry no country of their own, which is why the country is enforced on the request instead of read off the ad. An ad found in Germany may well be running in Austria too, and one collected for Slovenia may be the same creative the brand runs across the region.

Ask Nomi about a country it does not collect and it will tell you so rather than answer out of nothing.
